27th November. We're in Munich, in Deutches Theater, Heep acoustic gig. We are Enrico, Tina, Sara, English Tina and Ricky (Heep concerts veterans). The venue seems perfect, good sound quality and a nice bar. That's where a horn announces the beginning of the performance. I won't talk about technical matters, that would be useless, as so much has been said and written about the Heep. The setlist is made by classics like Lady in Black, Easy livin', through The dance, Magician's birthday, Free me, Wise man until the more recent Question. The vocals are incredibly perfect, five voices marching together with no mistakes: that's the force of the Heep. Mick and Bernie entertain the audience between songs, telling some stories like the one about The Wizard: what we've always thought an expensive violins, was a kettle actually. A kettle whistling in the kitchen while they were recording. It sounded good, so they added its sound to the rest of the instruments. Mick announces the new album is being released in 2007, with a promotional tour. But what's really big about the Heep is their relation with the fans. After playing for two hours and conscious of having to sleep in a tourbus, they decide to meet the fans and sign autographs in the theatre hall! They are friendly and always smiling, like an old friends' band. Phil Lanzon is sipping a beer while he tells me he remember their gig in Naples, and that he would like to go to Capri next time. I tell him he'd be my guest, he wishes me a happy birthday. I praise him not to ask my age, he wouldn't have told me his. Bernie is getting photographed with his wife and his 5-months-old daughter...THAT'S INCREDIBLE! Then he signs my Acoustically Driven t-shirt. I can't explain how I feel, it's all inside. All that I can say is Uriah Heep is like faith, these guys are happy to play and who has been listening to them for 36 years, like me, knows it.

Munich, 27th November...THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BIRTHDAY OF MY LIFE!
